Driving from Singapore to China – Road Trip to China by Car

Singapore-Malaysia            

Several things to Be Prepared            

1. A rechargeable cash card not less than $10            
2. Not less than three-quarters of automobile fuel            
3. Malaysian Entry Card (Received at the Entry Hall)            
4. Touch n Go Card for Malaysian Expressway (Purchase)            

Malaysia-Thailand            

There are two main ways to transport vehicles from Malaysia to Thailand: by air or by sea. Your choice depends largely on your budget and the time you have.            

Shipping is cheaper. Container ships usually take several weeks longer than airplanes, but the costs of ships are much lower.

If you choose shipping, there are 20-foot containers and 40-foot containers available. What you choose mainly depends on the size and number of your vehicles.            

What is Needed from Bukit Kayu Hitam in Malaysia to the Sadao in Thailand            

Your vehicle registration card. It should be registered in your name and presented with your passport.  If the vehicle is not in your name, you need to show the letter in which the owner authorizes you to use the vehicle.

Specific steps:            

1. Go to the immigration checkpoint. Similar to Malaysia, you will see the entry hall of parked vehicles and the immigration building on the left. All people will handle the entry procedures in the entry hall.            
2. You need to go through the immigration building and the immigration hall, then turn left and get into the parking lot behind the immigration building, finally, park the vehicles there and come out.            
3. Queuing for processing the entry.            
4. After the entry formalities are completed, the owner shall go to the Customs Office (next to the entry hall) for temporary import. Here you will show your vehicle registration card and passport. Customs officers will process this information and print it out, including details of your car, brand, model, engine, chassis number, etc., and also a statement that you will remove the vehicle within six months, otherwise you will have to pay a fine.            
5. Move to the next window (on the left) to submit the printed data, and they will ask you to sign the printed documents.            
6. Now you can go back in your car and leave the parking lot for Sadao.          
7. When you get to the Sadao, please buy insurance for your car according to the local law and regulations.            
8. Continue going along this road and you will see another building which seems to be their old immigration building. Go through it and you’re on the main road.

Additional Notes:            

Thailand has two kinds of gasoline, 91 octane number and 95 octane number E10 gasoline. E10 is 10% ethanol / 90% gasoline. If your car started manufacturing after the 1990s, you can rest assured of using E10 gasoline.
